This course provides Early Years practitioners with a basic awareness of how young children use technology, the potential risks online and how they can manage and minimise these risks.  It explores implications for staff use of technology, how to keep staff safe online and how to refer concerns. It also contains references to local and national guidance, as well as signposting to useful support and resources.

Code: EL 20/025 Interim Designated Safeguarding Lead Refresher

 

This E-learning course has been developed by the Education Safeguarding Service to enable experienced Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) and Deputy DSLs in schools and colleges to refresh their knowledge and skills and meet the requirement for updated training in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’. 

This course explores specific procedures and support available in Kent, including Kent Safeguarding Children Multi-Agency Partnership, Integrated Children’s Services and the ‘Front Door’.  DSLs outside of Kent can access this course, however, they will need to undertake independent research to ensure they understand their own local guidance and processes. 

Please note: 

  • Delegates MUST book themselves onto this course; CPD leads cannot purchase on a delegate’s behalf.
  • The training certificate accessed via this eLearning course will be valid for 1 year. 

Why should people take this course? 

This course will enable existing DSLs and deputy DSLs in schools and colleges to:

  • revisit and update their knowledge of national legislation and guidance pertaining to safeguarding children
  • explore Kent’s specific safeguarding children procedures, including the consultation and Integrated Front Door process
  • reflect, analyse and improve the safeguarding practice within their school/setting

Code: EL 20/031 Interim Designated Safeguarding Lead Refresher for Medway

This E-Learning course has been developed by the Education Safeguarding Service as an interim measure to enable experienced Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) and Deputy DSLs in Medway schools to refresh their knowledge and skills and meet the safeguarding requirements outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education 2020.

The training certificate accessed via this E-Learning course will be valid for 1 year.

Why should people take this course? 

This course will enable DSLs and deputy DSLs in Medway schools to revisit and update their knowledge of national legislation and guidance pertaining to safeguarding children. It explores specific procedures and support available in Medway, including their first response service, portal referrals and MASH and MARAC procedures.  It will enable DSLs to reflect, analyse and improve the safeguarding practice within their school/setting.

This E-learning course has been developed by the Education Safeguarding Service as an interim measure to enable experienced Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) and Deputy DSLs in early years settings in Kent to refresh their knowledge and skills and meet the  welfare requirement as outlined in Working Together to Safeguarding Children and the Early Years and Foundation Stage. 

The training certificate accessed via this E-learning course will be valid for 1 year. 

Why should people take this course?

  • This course will enable DSLs and deputy DSLs in early years settings to revisit and update their knowledge of national legislation and guidance pertaining to safeguarding children.
  • It will explore Kent’s specific safeguarding children procedures, including the consultation and Integrated Front Door process.
  • It will enable DSLs to reflect and analyse the safeguarding practice within their setting.

Code: EL 18/008 Safeguarding Basic Awareness for Childminders

This course is available for £25 per user plus 20% VAT.  To access the course click the purchase course button, your line manager will then authorise your access.  Please note you will be invoiced for taking the course afterwards.

Basic awareness training and outline of professional responsibilities to safeguard children and promote their welfare. To include an understanding of the Kent Safeguarding Children Multi-Agency Partnership (KSCMP) Threshold Criteria and how to make a referral to Specialist Children’s Services and an Early Help Notification. This course is only for Registered/Eligible Childminders.
